It has been a long time since I last added a blog post. You know about good intentions… I often wanted to update this page, but time just gets away from me! It is hard to believe we have just 48 days left in the 14/15 school year!
The clinic has been full of children with sneezing and red, watery, itchy eyes! The green film on my car and the surfaces outside tell me it is the height of the spring pollen season. Make sure you are following your physician advice for treating those pesky allergies!
Million Mile Month starts next Wednesday. On April 1, the American Heart Association initiative of National Walking Day takes place. We will celebrate the day and kick off the month with a walking activity for all students during their recess time on Wednesday, April 1.
Be sure to check out the Million Mile Month site and create an account. We need your help in recruiting 1,000 Highlands team members! Our goal is to win a monetary award from Fort Bend ISD for our wellness program. Monetary donations are not required to participate. Just select the 0 amount when you reach the donation screen. Of course, if you choose to do so, it would be appreciated by the organization Cyberways and Waterways. This organization’s mission is to develop STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Health and Sustainability programs to get kids and families to take action for environmental stewardship and conservation.
In April we will register our new kindergarten and prekindergarten students for next year. Check out the immunization requirements here. Some of the older students will be busy taking STAAR exams. But, best of all, we will kick off our annual Highlands Multicultural Week on April 27! Plan to be at Highlands on May 2 for our Festival. It is an event your whole family will want to attend!
I hope to see you out on the walking and bicycle trail or at school participating in one of our events!
