Today the students in grades 1 through 3 got to meet a member of the UnitedHealthCare Pro cycling team! Jonny Clarke and his racing bike visited Highlands. He shared information about the life of a professional athlete. He said it is cool to have a job riding a bicycle and traveling the world! The team rides hundreds of miles each week in training for the races. The team races about 100 races each year, all over the world.
Mr. Clarke told the students they should always wear a helmet when they get on a bicycle. He never rides without a helmet. Other important things Mr. Clarke shared were the importance of a healthy diet and sleep. He said eating fruits and vegetables was very important! He told us he had to train his body to sleep. He limits computer and television before bed.
Thanks to UnitedHealthCare and Stephanie Kellam for bringing this opportunity to the students at Highlands!
