Old traditions, new beginnings… Highlands turns 30 years old in 2016! This will be a year full of joy and memories. Many traditional events, new experiences, and celebrations are in the plans for this school year. Stay tuned to my website and school communication for more information.
The school year is rolling full speed ahead! Before I dive into healthy messages and the many activities to promote health, I want to reflect on my fabulous summer. I welcomed a new granddaughter, Tessa Kathleen on June 25. She is as beautiful as her sister, Savannah. Being an Oma is the BEST thing in life!
I had an opportunity to travel and spend time in many of the parks in the National Park System. From the brown landscape of Arches, to the blackness of Gunnison Canyon, to the devastation and rebirth at Mount St. Helen’s, and the grandeur of Mount Rainier, I was amazed at how much each made an impact. If you have an opportunity, please take your children to visit one of the National Parks. The experience at every unit is unique and amazing. This is the 100th anniversary of the National Park System. Find your park!
One last thing, I was able to make a big splash this summer! One of the most exciting things I did was white water rafting on the Deschutes River in Oregon. It was so much fun! I just had to add a few pictures to share my adventure! That's is me in the bright blue shirt and tan baseball cap!
